'Masters of modern art from the Hermitage' presented a magnificent selection of works from the towering figures of modern art. Drawn from the unparalleled collections of the State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg, the exhibition captured the ebullience, idealism and confidence of artists as they freed themselves from tradition.
The Art Gallery of NSW engaged Toko to develop a campaign that encapsulates the colourful, bold and radical innovative works on show. Works by Monet, Cézanne, Picasso, Gauguin, Kandinsky, Malevich and many more are forever connected through the unparalleled collection of the Hermitage. 'Collected and connected’, Toko’s campaign concept, breaks with the traditional hero image approach of ‘The Gallery’ and manifests itself through playful typographic treatments both colourful and dynamic.
